EVANS Paul Herman
EVANS, Paul Herman 1926 - 2016 Paul went home to be with Jesus on June 9, 2016. He died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 90 years old. Paul was born May 6, 1926 in Clifty, Ark. to Joseph & Lillis Evans. He and his family moved to Calif. in 1934. They settled in the Roosevelt area and moved to Lancaster in the 1940's. Paul is survived by his wife Mildred, son Randy, and daughter Cindi (Dwight); and blessed with 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was very proud of them and loved all of his family very much. He graduated from Antelope Valley High School in 1943 and joined the Navy, where he served in the Pacific during WWII. Upon his return, he married high school sweetheart, Mildred Poindexter. They were married for 70 years. He was an avid sportsman in his younger days. He and his family enjoyed many summer vacations in the High Sierras. Paul enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved playing baseball and softball. He played baseball with the Amateur Athletic Association. Paul was active in local Little League and Pony League baseball during the time his son Randy played baseball. He coached and managed many young men in the Antelope Valley for over 9 years. Paul loved music, traveling, and reading as a major source of enjoyment. He had a passion for playing his guitar and also wrote several songs. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and the Elks Club. He also attended Grace Chapel Church. Paul retired from Southern California Edison in 1983, after a 37 year career. After retirement, Paul and Mildred traveled to many different countries. Paul especially enjoyed the Scandinavian countries, Alaska, Hawaii, and Canada. He was well known as an extremely generous person to all that knew him. He will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends until we see him again in Heaven! Services for Paul will be held on Friday, June 17, 2016 at 11am at Mumaw Funeral Home.
