ROYBAL, Manuel Mel Genaro
ROYBAL, Manuel 'Mel' Genaro Born New Years Day 1927, in Santa Cruz, New Mexico to Genaro and Elvira Lopez Roybal. Mel passed away to the arms of his Lord on May 9, 2016, three months after the love of his life Patricia. They were married for 63 years. God and Family were his highest priority. He served God through Holy Cross Church in Santa Cruz, N.M., and St. Marys in Palmdale for many years. Mel served his country as a Merchant Mariner and saw service in the South Pacific during WWII. Mel was a welder in the aircraft industry working on many iconic aircraft throughout Calif. He proudly retired from Boeing Co. and Lockheed-Martin Co. at Plant 42 in 1986. Mel and Pat traveled extensively in the RVing community. He is survived by children JoAnn (Pat) Smith, Terry Bevans, and Ted (Sandy) Roybal, 7 grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren, 2 sisters Mariquita (Orlando) Martinez and Louisa Strader. Mel helped raise his sisters and a brother, Avaleno, after losing his dad at age 6, this made him the man of the house. He was a devoted Boy Scout and lived his life by the Oath, Law and Motto. He instilled these attributes in his children, grandchildren and all who knew him. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 21, 2016, at Good Shepard Cemetery, Ave L and 70th West, Lancaster
