SWAFFORD, Norman
SWAFFORD, Norman Roy Norman Roy born April 12, 1936 in Phoenix, Ariz., to Jack & Pearl Swafford and passed away March 22, 2016 in Auburn, Calif., at the age of 79. Norm was surrounded by family when he peacefully went to be with the Lord. Norm moved to Long Beach, Calif. as an infant where he spent the next 23 years. It was there he met the love of his life, Susie, whom he married in 1957. Norm served his country in the Marine Corps and was awarded the Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal for his act of heroism as well as earning the Marine Corps Expert Rifleman badge. Norm and his bride moved to Antelope Valley in 1958 where they welcomed their first of five daughters. Norm worked in the sand and gravel business and then became a project manager for the Country Club Estates. After these ventures, Norm worked for several car dealerships, where on numerous occasions he received the top salesman award. Norm eventually opened his own car lot, Uncle Norm's Auto Sales, and later owned the Westwood Lounge. In 1989, Norm and Sue moved north to Auburn, Calif. where he continued to sell cars & trucks until his retirement. Norm was preceded in death by an infant daughter Leslie, granddaughter Aubrey, his sisters' Jackie & Pat, and his parents Marvin and Pearl. Norm is survived by his loving wife of almost 59 years, Sue, his daughters Linda, Laura, Shelly and Sandy and his tweleve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and his cherished Jack Russell Terrier, Lucy. Norm will be deeply missed by his family and friends and forever be remembered for his hard work, courage, sense of humor, animated storytelling, and affectionate love for his "girls". In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation in Norm's name to Sutter Auburn Faith Hospice or a local Hospice. A Celebration of Life will be held May 21 in Auburn, Calif.
