KAUFMAN, Jack Hughes
KAUFMAN, Jack Hughes Born Sept. 4, 1925 Shreveport, La., died March, 19, 2016 Lancaster, Calif. Graduated Shreveport High School and East Texas Baptist University in Marshall Tex. One of ÔThe Greatest Generation', Jack served proudly in the US Navy in WWII as a radiophone and radiotelegraph operator first class. After the war Jack settled in Lancaster, Calif., to work at Edwards AFB on many experimental aircraft for various manufacturers. In 1960 Jack founded Universal Electronic Service, on Ave I, selling, servicing and installing car audio and monitoring burglar alarms. He was the authorized Motorola 2 way Radio Sales and Service for the AV area. An original member of the AV Ham Radio Operators Club #W60LG was well known in the Ham Radio Community. An electronics pioneer, Jack was an innovator and an enthusiastic entrepreneur. An active Christian, Jack was a lifetime member of VFW Post 3000 and lifetime BPOE member at Lancaster Elks Lodge. Survived by sister Betty Kaufman of Houston, Tex., daughters Vicki Austin of Sanford, Fla., Traci Kitchen of Taylor, Tex., and Dana Shrout of Maysville, N.C., son Randall Kaufman of Quartz Hill, Calif. 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by daughters Jacklyn Sue Kaufman and Rebecca Ann Winstead, and longtime companion Alice Brakke of Lancaster, Calif. Service will be graveside at Lancaster Cemetery, Friday April 1, at 1:00 pm. Reception to follow at Quartz Hill VFW 3000, 4342 West Ave L.
