COLLETT, George Frank Sr.
COLLETT, George Frank Sr. 85, died Wednesday, February 3, unexpectedly at the USC Medical Center in Los Angeles. His death is preceeded by his wife of 58 years, Lucy Watts Collett and his eldest son George Frank Collett Jr. He leaves behind 3 children, Jean Collett Greear (Mike), Theresa Collett Ballinger (Ted), Allen Collett (Marie), as well as 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Frank enlisted in the Air Force where he was a mechanic and a driver for a general. He was given an early discharge to help his mom run the family farm. After his mom sold the farm, Frank got a job working at a gas station where he met Lucy and they were married May 31, 1953. He moved his family to Florida then to California where he found work in freeway construction. At the time of his retirement, he worked for Miller and Sons underground utility company. He had a passion for 4-wheeling, camping and traveling. He and Lucy were long time members of the High Desert 4-Wheelers, Hi and Dry 4-Wheelers and High Desert Hekowies Camping Club. Funeral service will be held February 13, at 2p.m. at Desert Lawn Cemetery in Palmdale.
