WHITE, Leonard, Sr.
WHITE, Leonard, Sr. Born in Scotland, Louisiana on Dec. 18, 1933 to Dan White and Margie Chatman. A graduate of Concordia Parish Training High School, Mr. White worked as a lineman's helper, carpenter, and enlisted in the United States Air Force May 5, 1955. On Feb. 16, 1956, he married Vergie Baker, his childhood sweetheart. This union lasted 59 wonderful years and they became the proud parents of three boys: Leonard Jr., Vincent, and Greg. Mr. White retired as a Technical Sergeant at Edwards Air Force Base on Nov. 30, 1977, a total of 22 years. He began his career with the federal government. His position was similar to the one he held while he was in the military as a Communication Specialist. His service with the federal government was 23 years. During his federal government career, he was under the direction of 12 commanders, which was a record at that time. When he and his wife retired together, they had a combined record of 72 years of government experience. His government experience. his love of service continued with his zeal of serving the Lord. Over several years, for he served in several positions with churches ranging from the usher board, church treasurer and as a deacon. Mr. White's love for God, his service in military and civilian sector, his family, and church deserves a salute for a job well done!! Mr. White is predeceased by 3 brothers and 3 sisters. He is survived by 2 sisters,1 brother, 2 grandchildren, 7 step great-grandchildren, and one step great-great grandchild.Visitation wil be held Friday, February 5,2016 at Halley-Olsen Murphy Funeral Cremation from 6pm -8 pm. Funeral Service with Air Force Military Honors will be Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 2:00pm at Living Stone Cathdral of Worship, 37721 N. 100th Street, East Littlerock, Calif.
