CHAPPELL, Janice Marlene
CHAPPELL, Janice Marlene 79 went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Jan. 22, 2016, with her family by her side at her home in Lancaster, California. Janice was born September 29, 1936, in Van Nuys, California to Richard Howard King and Mildred Irene Moore. She grew up on a farm in Hinkley, California where she raised farm animals such as her favorite and beloved steer, Midnight, who won Grand Champion. She was involved in the 4-H club where she raised animals for show, learned how to cook and sew. She graduated from Barstow High School in 1955, and shortly thereafter began work as a secretary at General Electric in Mojave, California. She was very fond of dancing and often attended the local community hall dances, where she met and married the love of her life, an Army G.I., Robert Clive Chappell. While working for General Electric, she found a drafting job for her sweetheart, Robert, and they soon began a life together in Lancaster, California. While working to put her husband through college to become an engineer, she continued to work hard as a secretary, wife, mother of two children, and a homemaker. Soon after her husband graduated from college, he took over as the sole provider so that she could stay at home and raise their two children. Over the years, she worked as a secretary for General Electric, a secretary for a local psychologist's office, and a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service. Her interests included a strong belief and devotion to God, family, gardening, reading, crafts, painting, health and nutritional pursuits. Whatever life and family struggles that were brought her way, she remained steadfast in God, always providing a cheerful heart with an unending belief in God and his miraculous power. She entered this life with a child-like faith in God, and this child. like faith remained with her throughout her life, and will continue with her into the ever lasting. Janice often asked herself the question: what have I done with my life? As a result of her love and concern for always placing the needs of others before her own, she can rest assured that she did her best in this life and can simply state, I survived. When Janice leaves her earthly abode to be with her Heavenly Father forevermore, it will be said, well done my good and faithful servant. Well done. Janice Chappell is survived by her loving husband, Robert Chappell; 2 daughters and son-in-law, Eileen Cuiffo (Paul) and Lori Chappell; 3 grandchildren, Paul Cuiffo Jr., Kathryn Cuiffo, and Jennifer Chappell. Janice spent her recent few remaining years in the company of her loving and devoted husband, Robert Chappell, and traveling back and forth to visit her two daughters. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Wayne Richard King. www.joshuamortuary.com
