RADER, Mildred Belle Millie
RADER, Mildred Belle 'Millie' July 20, 1921- December 9, 2015. Millie Rader passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 9, 2015. Born in Burk-Burnett, Texas to Charles and Ida Mills in 1921, she came with her family to live in Lancaster in 1935. She enrolled as a freshman at Antelope Valley High School and during the course of her education, met the love of her life, Charles (Charlie) Rader. They were true high school sweethearts and were married on November 30, 1941, one week before the attack on Pearl Harbor. Upon Charlie's return from deployment overseas in WWII, Millie and Charlie bought a small lot, built a house, bore two sons, David and Mark and continued life's journey together. Millie proved to be an astute and successful business woman, working her way up from her start as a book keeper for numerous local businesses. She moved to corporate secretary for Pioneer Lincoln Mercury in Lancaster, receiving a Business Management Award from Ford Motor Co. in 1958, moved to business manager at Pioneer Honda and later to Partner/Owner. Millie served as president of Credit Women's International in 1969 and was listed in Who's Who of American Women in 1972. Millie's business career did not detract from the fact that she was an attentive and loving mother to her two boys, as well as a loving wife. She loved Lake Tahoe and spent at least part of every summer on the north shore, where everyone was welcome to come and stay, including her two boy's cousins and numerous friends. She cooked for everyone (and provided a little friendly, motherly discipline when needed). She sang beautifully, and her very favorite thing of all was going out dancing with Charlie. In short, she loved life and lived it to the fullest. Other than the period of Charlie's service overseas in the Army Air Corps, during WWII, Millie and Charlie have never been apart. They were happily married for 74 short years. Services will be held on Friday, January 15, 2016 at 1:00pm, at Halley-Olsen- Murphy Mortuary. 44831 Cedar Avenue, Lancaster, Calif., 93534
