PIPER Ruth Dorothy
PIPER, Ruth Dorothy Aged 91 years, passed away on Dec. 30, 2015 with her devoted husband Rodger at her side, 60 years to the day from when they first met on New Years Eve in 1955/ 56. She is survived by her husband Rodger, three sons Raymond, Robert, and Richard, grandchildren, Justin, Tyler, Miranda, Christy, and Dale, and great-grandson, Landon. She was proceeded in death by her younger sister Betty and younger brother Carlton. Ruth was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Oct. 5, 1924, and we often heard German words or the East Coast accent around the house. Ruth grew up around Babylon, N.Y., and enjoyed roller skating around the block near the family business. She graduated from Babylon High School in 1941 and eventually became a 'Rosy-the-Riveter' on aircraft at Republic Aviation as well as working in the banking industry. She relocated to Southern California with a good friend after the war. Ruth and Roger were married in June 1956 in Inglewood, Calif. Soon after, they moved to a new town in the California high desert. Rodger started a new job and they had their first child all within a couple of years. They lived in the Antelope Valley, Calif. area for 38 years, where Ruth worked in the social security industries. They relocated to Green Valley, Ariz. in 1994. Ruth enjoyed tole painting, ceramics, doll making and quilting. Ruth was a happy person and was known for a hearty laugh and great sense of humor. She enjoyed playing the piano around the house and would sing right out loud. Ruth, along with her husband, was a member of Desert Hills Lutheran Church in Green Valley. Our thanks to the caring people at Casa de Sonshine in Green Valley, and Genitive Hospice of Tucson. No services are planned at this time, pending a future joint service in accordance with her and Rodgers wishes.
