OGDEN, Milton Delmar
OGDEN, Milton Delmar 'Mel' Was born as Gary Darell Powers on Jan. 26, 1930. He passed on Dec. 15, 2015 in his Rosamond home. Mel was born in Corning, N.Y. to Paul and Rita Powers, both deceased. He spent his youth on the East Coast and started a family before migrating to the West Coast in the late 1950s. Mel settled temporarily in the area of Monterey, Calif., where he created a family. Eventually, he took up permanent residence in the Mojave - Rosamond area in the early 1960s, married Bobbie Ogden and started a business and family. He liked to think of himself as a 'scrap metal man.' He loved and lived in the desert for over 50 years. The only things he loved more than the high desert were reconditioning cars, raising canaries, and watching any movie starring Clint Eastwood. He was also notably fond of the color blue. He is survived by siblings: Deany Keith and Dale Powers. He was predeceased by a brother, Preston Powers. His legacy of children include: Sharon Rhodes, Valerie Datta, Jacqueline Begel, Katherine Bruno, Paula Ogden, and Paul Ogden. We continue to memorialize his deceased children who include brothers: Lane and Shannon Powers. Mel's offspring included many grandchildren and great- grandchildren. A funeral was held in Addison N.Y. Dec. 30, 2015. A memorial will be held in Rosamond, Calif.
