HENDRICKSON, Clendon L. 88, of Wenatchee, Wash. died Dec. 8, 2015, with his wife Kay and daughter Pauline by his side. He was born to the late George Hendrickson and Viola Weatherbee, May 9, 1927, in Ashton, Idaho. Clen graduated from Yakima High School in 1945, received a BS in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Wash., and an MS in Systems Management from USC. He met Kay Elliott at Yakima High, they married in 1951, and lived in Southern Calif. for many years before relocating to Wash. in 2014. After spending a year in the US Army and five years working as a surveyor on the Skagit River, Clen realized his true passion was in aviation, and studied Aeronautical Engineering at UW. He then enjoyed a richly rewarding career flight testing experimental aircraft at the Air Force Flight Test Center at EAFB until his retirement in 1987. Clen enjoyed family activities such as boating, water skiing, swimming, snow skiing, and traveling by motor home. He was active in the 4-H club with his children, teaching them how to care for their animals and facilitating their participation in the local club and AV Fair competitions. He also supported Kays love of nature photography, encouraged her creativity, and cheered her successes. They shared many photography trips together. Clen is survived by his wife Kay, their four children: Janette Barnes, Pauline Bowie, Donna Chambers, and Roderick Hendrickson, as well as seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held in Yakima.Donations may be made in Clendon's name to the Nature Conservancy.
