SHIPMAN, David James 82, passed away October 20, 2015. David was born July 10, 1933, in Pottsboro, Texas. The youngest of four children, David spent his childhood in Texas and California before enlisting in the Army. Upon discharge he spent the next 15 years as a dockworker until beginning a 35 year career in aerospace. David was a real salt of the earth character. He never shied away from a hard day's work, carving out a legacy filled with building his own home and instilling a blue collar work ethic into his children. David enjoyed life and spent countless nights dancing and making friends everywhere he went. David always put others before himself and will be remembered for his compassion, generosity, and warm presence. David is preceded in death by parents Doyle and Flora, siblings Geraldine, Jackie and Doyle Jr., and son Terry. David is survived by children Lynne, Diane, Wendy, Glenn, Melanie and Lonnie; wife and loving partner Martha, ex-wife Amira and countless grand children who adored him dearly. David's true happiness was when he was surrounded by those he loved. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, October 31. For information, please email his family at
