ADDINGTON, Edward Lewis
ADDINGTON, Edward Lewis 1933 - 2015 Edward Lewis Addington passed away on September 8, 2015, at the age of 82. A visitation is scheduled for Monday, September 14, 2015, from 10am to 12pm, at Wood Family Funeral Service. Interment will follow at 1:15 p.m., at Bakersfield National Cemetery in Arvin, CA. Ed was born June 20, 1933, in Maywood, Calif., to Andrew and Margaret Addington. He grew up in the Los Angeles area where he attended school. At age 18, Ed joined the Army and served as a Communications Specialist in Germany, where he was stationed. He continued his career in the private sector after leaving the service. Ed had an entrepreneurial spirit; he couldn't ignore the urge to leave the communication industry. He began following a path of business endeavors, including car sales, insurance, roofing, encyclopedias, and even an all-female, professional football team. Ed loved to talk and would engage anyone in conversation and discuss almost any subject with surprising depth. Even during his battle with cancer, Ed was at his best when friends and relatives would stop by to visit. He could talk for hours without missing a beat. He smiled ear to ear when he visited with his grandchildren, and especially while attending their sporting events. Ed is survived by his partner, Mary Vickery; his daughter, Cynthia Denham and her husband Bob, and her two sons, Christopher and Steven; his daughter Teresa Turner and her husband Robert and daughter Emma; his son, John Addington and his wife Jennifer and their children, Joshua and Jessica; and his sister Marilyn Kinner and her husband, Doug. Wood Family Funeral Service, Inc. was entrusted with his care. For condolences please visit www.woodmortuary.net .
