WHEELER, Thoams Jefferson TJ
WHEELER, Thomas Jefferson 'TJ' Age 90, of Littlerock, Calif., passed away on July 26, 2015. He was born May 1, 1925 in Boswell, Oklahoma and raised there by his parents Clayton and Elsie (Cavin) Wheeler. T.J. joined the United States Navy and served his Country honorably during World War II. He served from October 1943 to April 1946, with distinction as a Fire Fighter on the USS Rowan DD782. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Navy never left him, as friends and family will attest. The last 65 years were spent in California, working in the aerospace industry. TJ was involved in multiple groundbreaking projects, including the Apollo Space Capsule, destined for a moon landing mission, and highly classified military aircraft, earning him awards of excellence for performance. T.J. is survived by his children, Sharon Mothner (Ralph), Steve Wheeler (Rose), and Rick Wheeler (Debbie), and many grand and great-grandchildren; brothers, Eugene and James Wheeler and sister Mary Lee McMahon. He is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Cleo; parents, Clayton and Elsie (Cavin) Wheeler and sister Lola Mae Higbee. A military service was held Friday, August 28, 2015 at the Bakersfield National Cemetery where he was interred with the love of his life, Cleo.
