SCIDMORE, Betty J. (Defebaugh)
SCIDMORE, Betty J. (Defebaugh) Sept. 4, 1931 - July 1, 2015 Betty died in Culver City, Calif., at age 83 from COPD-related causes. She was born in Los Angeles and raised in Portland, Ore., where she was a tomboy who loved to roll logs on the Willamette River. Betty moved back to Los Angeles in the late 1940s where she met and married George Defebaugh. She held various jobs throughout her working life, including real estate sales, culminating in managing a piano parts importing company begun with George in 1978. After George died in 1990, Betty moved to San Marcos where she met her second husband, Phil Scidmore. After marrying in 1997 they ultimately settled in Llano in the Antelope Valley, where Phil died in 2007. In 2014 Betty moved to Culver City to be closer to family. Until back problems curtailed her physical activity, Betty loved long walks, dancing and golf. She also loved gin rummy, reading, and dogs. Betty was beautiful, adventurous, fun-loving and independent and a 46-yr-sober member of AA. Survived by daughters, Lynn Eames (Richard) and Karen Defebaugh. Memorial donations to any animal rescue organization would be much appreciated and an honor to Betty's memory.
