CHEW, Shirley Hang Ying Yue
CHEW, Shirley Hang Ying Yue Passed away on July 20, 2015 after a two-year battle against cancer. Her struggle ended just days after she and her loving husband, Thomas, celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. Shirley was born in the Guangdong province of China on October 14, 1938. She endured the Japanese invasion and occupation, as well as the Communist takeover of Mainland China. She re-settled in Hong Kong, where she met her husband, Thomas, who was employed as a Rocket Scientist at the Air Force Rocket Propulsion Laboratory, Edwards Air Force Base. Married on July 18, 1960, their wedding banquet filled 21 tables. In 1961, Tom and Shirley settled in Lancaster, where they raised three sons. Shirley was employed with the County of Los Angeles at Mira Loma Hospital, Antelope Valley College, and the Palmdale School District Head Start program. They moved from the Antelope Valley to Roseville, Calif. in 2010. Shirley is survived by her husband Thomas; sons, James (Michele), Richard (Ivy) and Kenneth (Agnes) and six grandchildren, Madeleine & Josephine, Alicia & Zoe and Alexander & Brandon. Also survived by 2 brothers, 2 sisters and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am, August 8, 2015 at the Green Street Mortuary, 649 Green Street, San Francisco, CA. Burial will follow.
