DUDLEY, Shurla Mae
DUDLEY, Shurla Mae Born September 5, 1927, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Died July 20, 2015 in Lancaster, California. Part of the Greatest Generation, she left her parents home in Shawnee the day after high school graduation, taking a train to war-time Washington, D.C. for a Civil Service clerical position. She returned to Shawnee after the war, where she met the love of her life, her husband Dick. They enjoyed 57 years of marriage during which they moved to the Antelope Valley and its aerospace industry, settling in Rosamond and raising four children. Shurla served her church and community, including as a Sunday School teacher at Wayside Chapel, Cub Scout Den Mother, and Rosamond High Band Booster. Preceded in death by her husband Dick (2007) and son Rick (2013). Survived by her daughter Cathy (husband Anthony) and sons, Jim and John; grand- children, Rachael Zink, Kyle Moreno, Eric Dudley, Isaac Dudley and Jon Klay; and great-grandchildren Klara Mae Zink, Emma Moreno and Keanna Klay. Viewing for family and friends will begin at 9 am, with Services at 10 am, Thursday, July 30, 2015, at Joshua Memorial Park & Mortuary.
