THEOPHANIS, Georgia Evelyn Bul
THEOPHANIS, Georgia Evelyn (Bullington) Feb. 22, 1931-April 24, 2015 Georgia Evelyn Bullington was born in Hawley, Texas, during the depression. The family moved often within Texas and California. Georgia began planting her roots following the family's return to Rosamond, California in 1946. Georgia Evelyn, Evelyn to many and later Georgia, remained in the Antelope Valley and attended school in Rosamond and Lancaster, graduating from Antelope Valley High School, Class of 1949. She married Raymond Herring in July 1948 and moved to Lancaster. She worked as a secretary at Edwards Air Force Base (now NASA) and later as an operator at General Telephone (now Verizon). In 1975 she married George Theophanis and became very active in community service. Together they helped revive the fledgling membership of VFW Post #3000 and over the years, the membership grew and the post increased in activity and events for members and their families. Over time, the bar became Buckhorn Auto Parts where she worked long days and weekends until they retired. In addition to many community and political activities, she was active in many service organizations: Quartz Hill Little League Concession Manager, Lifetime member for the VFW Post #3000 Auxillary, Western Antelope Valley Historical Society, Antelope Valley Committee on Aging, Emblem Club (Lady Elks), Women of the Moose (WOTM), Altrusa (service organization no longer active), Volunteer Chaplin at Antelope Valley Hospital Medical Center, took part in Memorial Day and other activities to honor Veterans, Antelope Valley High School Reunion committee. She moved to Leisure Lake Mobile Estates in Lancaster in 2005 where she resided until she was unable to live independently in 2014. Georgia Evelyn is survived by her brother David Bullington of Fair Oaks, Calif.; daughter Kathy Haynes, of Nev., sons, Bryan Herring of Valencia, Calif., Alan Herring of Lancaster, Calif. and Steven Herring of Mojave, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and 19 surviving great- grandchildren, two passing away in infancy. Sister, mother friend and neighbor. We lost her to the Lord on April 24, 2015. She is and will be greatly missed. Memorial Service will be held at 12 noon, June 20, 2015 at El Indio (formerly Golden Cantina) 4001 Knox Ave., Rosamond, CA 93560 In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in her honor to: William J 'Pete' Knight Veterans Home, 45221 30th Street West Lancaster, CA 93536, Attn: Lawrence Hawkins
