Obituary Notices and Memorials

WEATHERFORD, Marcia Jean We mourn the passing of Marcia Jean Weatherford, April 8, 2014. Marcia, or as she preferred, Jean, spent 71 years in the Antelope Valley. She graduated from A.V. High School and went to work for GTE/Verizon in 1956 as an operator. She enjoyed a long career, retiring from facilities in 1997. Jean found joy in many projects but where she truly found her passion was her love of photography. Jean captured the memories that we cherish and those photos remind us of how much love and humor she imbued into every family event. If she wasn't holding a camera she was crocheting or painting or being a Girl Scout leader or adding bells to her beloved collection. Jean was a pillar of strength. A working, single mom in a time when women stayed in the home, and yet she always managed to take care of and love her children in away that made her presence a constant blessing, even providing for a family vacation every year without fail. Jean is survived by her son Don Weatherford; her daughter Deborah Gray; her sisters, Joyce Cicero and Mona Moore; her brother Leon Russell and their cousin, like a sister, Donna Redmayne; 10 grandchildren; 15 great- grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Jean is predeceased by her mother Leola Russell, son Stephen Weatherford, her brother Rex Ramos and granddaughter Sacelia Gray. Marcia Jean Weatherford was an amazing mother, sister, grandmother and aunt. The hole that her death has left in our hearts can never be filled. Services to remember this wonderful woman will be held at 2pm, May 23, 2015 at Joshua Memorial Park, Lancaster
