FAIRCHILD, Pauline Helen
FAIRCHILD, Pauline Helen Pauline was born October 26, 1928 in Oklahoma and went home to the Lord on April 16, 2015. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Fairchild and two sisters. Pauline is survived by 2 brothers; 6 children; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Pauline first came to California during the dust bowl time from Oklahoma. Her dad, Daniel Janeway, worked for the WPA, working on the Friant Dam. From Friant her family worked at any jobs they could get, picking vegetables as part of the migrant workers, that John Steinbeck wrote about in Grapes of Wrath, working their way down the California coast settling in what is now called Villa Park. Pauline has been a valley resident for over 65 years. She had a career as a grocery checker, working at Fox Markets in Edwards followed by Bob Francis market in Rosamond. The same market was later bought by Bill Vaughn and later sold to Art Johnson. She then worked as the school secretary at Rosamond Christian School for over 10 years prior to retirement.
