HATFIELD, Richard Arlen
HATFIELD, Richard Arlen Born August 8, 1931 in Ft. Wayne, Ind. to Floyd and Chloe Hatfield. Passed away April 2, 2015 in Lancaster, Calif. at the age of 83. He was predeceased by his parents, sisters, Betty Branstrater, Barbara Aldrich and Bonnie Saylor and his first wife Ruth (Saylor) Hatfield of California City, Calif. He is survived by sister Sharon Perry, brothers, Bobby and Jerry of Ft. Wayne, Ind. and Jack of La. He is also survived by his wife Lois, daughter, Cindi Garrison (Lindy) of Downey and son Richard Hatfield II from Los Angeles; grandchildren, Brenden (Paige) Garrison of San Juan Capistrano and Taryn Garrison of Huntington Beach, stepchildren Ron Cole (Kris) of Ridgecrest and Jack Cole (Michelle) of Lancaster; step-grandchildren, Jennifer McDonald (James) of Wash., Alexandra Burns (Aaron) of Kan. and Kelsey and Kaitlyln of Ridgecrest, Calif. He is also survived by his four great-grandchildren, Riley, Hunter, Logan and London Garrison of San Juan Capistrano. Richard grew up in Ft. Wayne, Ind. with his first wife, Ruth whom he married in 1952. He served honorably in the Air Force for 25 years including tours in Vietnam, Thailand and Europe. During his years of service he was also stationed in Ala., Mich., Texas, N.M. and Calif. He was an aircraft mechanic and retired as a Master Sergeant in 1979 from Edwards AFB. He and first wife, Ruth, lived in Calif. City after his retirement until her death in 1982. He worked at Flight Systems in Mojave and after her death he spent the next 5 years in Sardinia, Italy, Germany and traveling other parts of Europe. He met his future wife Lois while in Sardinia and found she also lived in Calif. City. They were married in 1988. They spent many happy years together playing golf, enjoying their grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing with their dogs Babe and Buddy and taking trips to Laughlin and Las Vegas. He will be greatly missed by everyone who loved him. A memorial service will be held at the Community Church of Calif. City, 21001 Conklin Blvd. Calif. City, Calif. at 2pm on April 18, 2015. Memorial contributions can be made in Richards memory to the charity of your choice or to the Community Church of Calif. City of which he was a member since 1979. Private interment at a later date.
