HOCK, Amelia Dreith Born Nov. 30, 1920 in Denver, Colorado to Russian immigrants John and Annamarie Dreith, passed away March 30, 2015 in Lancaster, Calif., at the age of 94. She and husband George came to the valley with their children in 1946 and for the next 30 years ran several alfalfa ranches here and in Bishop, Calif. After George retired from ranching, she began her second career as an instructional aide at Quartz Hill Elementary School. She was an active member in her church as well as 4-H and other community activities. Amelia is preceded in death by George, her husband of 52 years; daughter Bette Stokes; son Jim Hock; brother John Dreith; sisters Mary Modic and Olinda Kornafel. She is survived by grandchildren, Gary, Steven, Michael (Evelyn) Stokes, Sandra Stokes-Sowa (William); great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Tyler, Jessica Stokes, Amanda, Justin, Hayden Sowa; son-in-law Fred Stokes; brothers, Benjamin, Samuel, Richard (Ann) Dreith and many nieces and nephews. Viewing will be held Monday, April 6, 2015 from 5-7 pm at Halley Olsen Murphy Funeral and Cremations, 44831 Cedar Ave. Lancaster with funeral services at 2 pm, Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Grace Lutheran Church, 856 W. Newgrove, Lancaster, CA. Blessed with a long life and greatly missed, 'Nana' is with her family smiling.
