JOHNSTON, Robert McFarland
JOHNSTON, Robert McFarland Bob was born in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada March 21, 1935, the second of five sons. He passed away from Non Hodgkins Lymphoma on Saturday, December 20, 2014 surrounded by loving family and a beautiful sunrise God had sent to accompany him on his way. Bob began employment with the Ontario Hydro at age 17, became a journeyman lineman at age 20. He loved working in the electrical field and was known for his strong work ethic. In 1963 he met Lorraine the love of his life for 51 years. They came to California in Nov. 1963 and he began working for SCE in Palm Springs. In 1964 he ventured into construction working out of IBEW Locals 11 & 47. In 1966 he came to the Antelope Valley to work, loved the area and made it his home. Through the years he earned his Electrical and General Contractor Licenses, forming his own company in 1974. Through his work many friendships were created. Bob was a gracious man who never lost his sense of humor and will be remembered for his wonderful smile. He loved Lorraine, his children and grandchildren with a full heart. His Grandchildren were the light of his life. He was a wonderful host welcoming you with food and his famous never to be forgotten 'toddy for your body.' We are truly blessed to have had this great man in our lives. Bob was a member of the Lancaster Masonic Lodge No 437, Antelope Valley Shrine Club, Scottish Rite, Pasadena, AL Malaikah Shrine, Los Angeles, Lancaster Moose Lodge 1926 and the NRA. He is survived by his loving wife Lorraine; son Daniel (Lori); daughters, Nancy (Jerry) Dinel, Mitzi Barnes, Cindy (Chuck) Smith; 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandsons; 3 brothers, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his Parents, Brother and infant son Robert McFarland Johnston II. Lorraine and family thank the staff of USC Norris Cancer Center, USC Keck Medical Center, Dr. Gerold Shinbane, Dr. Ann Morbacher and their staff, AVH Trauma Center, Tina Whitson AVH Progressive Care Unit and staff, Dr. S. Moorthy and Hoffman Hospice for their excellent care and compassion. A Irish Wake Memorial will be held at the family home from 12 to 4pm, January 31, 2015, Great Memories will be shared with Food and Toddies (casual attire). Phone (661) 948-9438.
