Obituary Notices and Memorials

CLARKE, Karen 1938-2015. My sister Karen passed away peacefully January 5th 2015. Karen died of heart failure at her home with her beloved animals at her side. Karen Eleanor Prewitt was born July 4th 1938, believing the annual Fourth of July fireworks were for her birthday, this began her wild journey. She had a long and interesting life, with farms and animals extending from Florida to Maryland and finally California, she was the coolest person I knew and was an award winning creative writer and musician. Always thinking "out of the box" she attended the writers conference every year. Karen was a wonderful school teacher ending up teaching in the twilight of her years at the California State Prison in Lancaster until she retired. She also worked on the AV press. Karen taught me my first guitar chord leading me to make a living playing music most of my life, she was very proud of that, Karen's ashes will be placed on my fireplace mantle along with our mother and father in Chicago il. The picture here is when Karen was 30 years old, I will always remember her compassion for animals and tireless campaigns for animal rights, anyone wanting to celebrate Karen's life could kindly donate to your favorite animal rights organization or adopt an animal in Karen's name. She made the world a better place and will be truly missed.
