MURRAY, Robert Craig
MURRAY, Robert Craig March 6, 1960 - Jan. 9, 2015 After a lifetime of impressive accomplishments, our beloved Robert Craig Murray passed away peacefully at home in his Inglewood, California condominium on Jan. 9, 2015. Robert was born on March 6, 1960 to Robert and Marion Murray in Los Angeles, California. He attended Inglewood High School where he was the Assistant Editor of the Inglewood High School Yearbook. Robert was represented in the 1977-1978 edition of Who's Who Among American High School Students, earned a Certificate of Merit, and graduated as a Seal Bearer (top 10 in his class) in 1978. He was also listed on the Principal's Lifetime Honor Roll and earned a Bank of America Achievement Award in the field of Science and Mathematics. Robert earned a scholarship to attend Loyal Merriment University in Los Angeles, California where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering May 28, 1983. Robert was hired by Rockwell International Corporation right after graduating, where he earned a United States Patent for developing a 'Digital Power Controller' for an aircraft having a computer-controlled propulsion system in 1991. After Rockwell, he worked at Boeing as an Aeronautical Engineer. He has worked as an Engineer for more than 25 years. In his spare time he enjoyed tutoring students to improve their academic skills. He earned several State of California. teaching credentials. He also enjoyed performing Stand-up Comedy in many venues in the Los Angeles area and across the United States. He frequently visited Las Vegas to perform comedy and enjoyed spending time with his nieces Domonique and Dawnesha while there. He loved traveling around the world and talked about his experience of 'Running with the Bulls' (in Spain) on a local radio show. Everyone who knew Robert knew how much he loved Comedy and making people laugh. He treasured his friends and enjoyed the time he spent with his fellow comedians. He was also a cartoonist, an avid lover of film, and a member of The Writers Guild of America, having written several scripts for movies. Robert also had a great love for music, He was an accompanied guitarist, bassist, keyboardist and singer, and recorded many compilations of the songs he wrote. Surviving Robert are his parents, Marion (Adams) Murray, Ph.D., and Robert Lee Murray, Jr.; his sisters Karyn Murray and Gertie Addison; cherished nieces and nephews; and a host of relatives and friends. Robert's kindness and generosity and laughter will be remembered and greatly missed. A celebration of Robert's life will be held on Friday, January 23, 2015, 2pm at Inglewood Cemetery Mortuary, Manchester Chapel, 3801 West Manchester, in Inglewood, California. (310) 412-6811.
