CLEMANS, Herman Herman Clemans passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 15, 2014. He was born to Reba and Doyle Clemans on June 22, 1930, in Rochester, Indiana. He attended school in Talma, Indiana, and graduated from Talma High School in May of 1948. He enlisted in the USAF in February 1951 and attended basic training at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, Texas. Following a short period of medical training at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, he was stationed with the 5005th Hospital Group, Elmendorf AFB, Anchorage, Alaska. He served there through June 1953 when he was transferred and stationed with the 92nd Bomb Wing, Fairchild AFB, Spokane, Washington. He received an honorable discharge on January 21, 1955. He immediately enrolled in the University of Idaho, College of Forestry. He transferred to the College of Agriculture the beginning of his junior year. He received his BS in Agriculture in June 1959. While at the university, he met the love of his life and future wife Marcele Ranta. They were married for nearly 48 years until her death in 2008. Due to the lack of agricultural jobs, he re-enrolled in the University of Idaho and received teaching certificates in the states of Idaho and Washington and lifetime certificates in California. He started his teaching career in Craigmont, Idaho. In 1965 he obtained a teaching position with Palmdale Unified School District and was there for 25 years until his retirement. He began coaching the Palmdale girls' basketball team in 1982 and was there for 30 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marcele, granddaughter Elizabeth, sister Juanita and brothers, Billy and Kenny. He is survived by his son Werner and family; daughter Johanna and family; six sisters; two brothers, and many nieces and nephews. Viewing will be held at 9 am, December 19, 2014 with Funeral immediately following at 10 am at Halley Olsen Murphy Funerals and Cremations , Lancaster. Interment will follow at the Techachapi Cemetery West.
