SCOTT, Opal Marie
SCOTT, Opal Marie Born Dec. 30, 1922 in Russellville, Ark. Died Oct. 27, 2014 in Palmdale, Calif., at 91 years of age. She was the youngest of five children born to Mace and Mary Vick. They have all predeceased her. In 1942 she moved to Covina, Calif. and went to work at Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach as a "Rosie the Riveter". Finding out that the driver of her carpool was single, she moved to the front seat and 4 months later married him, becoming Mrs. Jack Scott. They remained sweethearts throughout their 71 years of marriage. After the war they settled in Covina and started their family. In 1959, looking for a more rural lifestyle, they moved to Palmdale. They attended Palmdale Foursquare Church for 29 years where she taught Sunday school and led the women's ministry. Since 1989 they have attended Lancaster First Assembly of God, participating in the senior ministries. Upon retirement they traveled to all fifty states and enjoyed monthly camp-outs with the Reddy Eddys. Opal has two daughters, Judith and Rebecca. Judith married David Robinson and blessed Opal with 2 grandchildren, Danny and Lori. Danny gave her 4 great-grandsons, Ethan (married to Chelsea), Dylan, Dakota, and Colter. Becky married Richard Hamill. She was "Aunt Opal" to 4 generations of nieces and nephews. She is survived by her husband and family except for her grand- daughter, Lori, who was already waiting for her in heaven. Viewing will be held from 9:30-10:30 am, Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014, followed by the memorial service at 11 am, at Lancaster First Assembly of God, 44514 20th St. West. Interment will be Wed., Nov. 5, 2014 at Oakdale Memorial Park in Glendora. Arrangements entrusted to Joshua Mortuary, Palmdale.
