THOMAS, Robert Loomis
THOMAS, Robert Loomis Age 74, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born in Los Angeles on Feb. 9, 1940, to Lester and Carol Thomas. He grew up in Boron, Calif. As a high school student, he and his twin brother, Richard won a summer job at Edwards Air Force Base, Air Force Rocket Propulsion Laboratory. He went on to get a Bachelors Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Masters Degree in Aerospace Operations Management from USC, and obtained an LLB Bachelor of Law Degree. Robert worked for the Rocket Propulsion Laboratory, now the Air Force Research Laboratory, at Edwards Air Force Base since 1956, with a brief stint at Vandenberg Air Force Base. After retiring from the Civil Service, he continued to work at the lab as a contractor until the last days of his life. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving in many positions within the church. Surviving him is Victoria Thomas, his wife of 52 years; two sons, Drea Thomas and Matthew Thomas; three daughters, Kerry Schultz, Christine Schultz, and Lori Baccus; 12 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Andrea Ostrowski. Viewing will be at 1 pm, with services at 2 pm, Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014 at the LDS church - 1701 W Lancaster Blvd, Lancaster, CA. He will be laid to rest at Joshua Memorial Park , Lancaster, CA.
