BROWN, Donald Baird
BROWN, Donald Baird Age 88, was born December 20, 1925 in Los Angeles, California and was raised in Cudahy, California. He joined his father in the Navy in 1942, served as a Torpedo man Third Class on river boats in the Philippines, and separated from the Navy in 1946. Donald worked at McDonald Douglass in China Lake, California on the Guppy and Super Guppy aircraft and transferred to North American in Downey, California. After being laid off and not receiving a recall due to an address mix up, he became a Contractor in the Antelope Valley. He additionally worked as a Bus Driver, Clerk at AJ's paint shop in Lancaster and Water System Maintenance Man for White Farms Residential Housing Development. He was the Honorary Mayor of Quartz Hill in 1978, a charter member of the Quartz Hill Veterans of Foreign Wars Chapter 3000; a member of the Antelope Valley Sportsman's Club, the Shriners of Quartz Hill and a Third Degree Mason. He is survived by three children; five grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. A Memorial Service will be held for him 2 pm, Friday October 10, 2014 at the Quartz Hill VFW, 4342 West Avenue L, Quartz Hill. Private Interment will take place at Bakersfield National Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Halley Olsen Murphy Funerals and Cremations .
