Joyce lived most of her life in Lancaster, Calif., before her and her husband LeRoy moved to beautiful Tehachapi, Calif. Joyce moved to Lancaster in 1958 with her first husband, Eugene Paul Kotchick. They had three children, Cherie Brisson (Kotchick, Lancaster, Calif., Joseph Robert Kotchick, Lancaster, Calif., and Kimrey Kotchick, Reno, Nev. She is survived by her loving husband LeRoy Markman and her beloved dog 'Zoey'. LeRoy and Joyce were married on January 07, 1978 in Lancaster, Calif. Joyce loved and worked for Carl's Jr. for several years in Lancaster. Later in her life she courageously went back to school and earned her 'early childhood development' degree and graduated with a 4.0 GPA and with honors. She taught at several different Christian preschools in the Lancaster area. This is where she found her true calling, teaching the children about the love of Jesus. Most people fondly knew her as, 'Miss Joyce'. Joyce also loved to sing and was involved with her Lutheran church choir for many years. What we will remember the most about Joyce was her steadfast desire to witness about Christ and that we are saved by grace. Her favorite verse which she frequently quoted was John 3:16 - 'For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.' Joyce was also known by many to be a very sweet, kind and a nonjudgmental person. Her love of travel took her on some great adventures! Joyce is the daughter of the late William and Esther (Hagge) (Lohr) Roethlisberger, step-daughter to the late Lee Lohr, wife of LeRoy Markman, beloved sister and sister-in-law to William and Mary Roethlisberger and great-niece of Delphine Hagge. Joyce is also survived by her son-in-law Kerry J. Brisson; her grandchildren Jared and Samantha Brisson; great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Lillian Brisson and her 'traveling buddy' grandson, Austin Brisson. Joyce also has many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, family and co-workers that she loved very much. Visitation will be held from 4 - 7 pm, Monday, September 22, 2014 at Halley Olsen Murphy Funerals and Cremations, Lancaster.
