Boyd is survived by his wife of 62 years Helen; four children, Barbara (Bill) Packer, Trisha (David) DiPrete, Jim Dranow, Bill (Carrie) Dranow; nine grandchildren and one great- grandchild. Boyd retired from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power as a superintendent after 25 years. He enjoyed his retirement years with many activities which included serving as the treasurer of the High Desert Salt Water Angler's, bowling on a team, volunteering with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and traveling around the country on many bus tours. Boyd will be remembered as one who was always ready to lend a helping hand to friends and family. He reveled in the challenges of solving problems that invariably arose with his myriad of projects. Boyd was handy with a variety of trades, many skills of which were self taught. Boyd will be missed for his sense of humor and his easy going nature. An informal "celebration of life" will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 1 pm at the home of his son Bill, 43806 35th St E, Lancaster.
