BUNDY, Russell Winfield
BUNDY, Russell Winfield Russell was born on September 18, 1925, in Bennington, Vermont to Rev. Theodore and Elsie Bundy. He went to be with the Lord on August 22, 2014, in Palmdale. While a student at Saranac Lake High School in Saranac Lake, New York, he met his future wife Betty. Rev. Bundy, Russells father, married the couple on June 1, 1947, and recently they celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, completing flight school as a navigator. Later when the Korean War started, he was recalled to active duty, and he spent three years serving in Germany and England. After he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Clarkson University, Lockheed Aircraft Co hired him as a weight engineer in flight test at Palmdale Plant 42 where he worked for 30 years. As a second career, he was a tax consultant for H&R Block Tax Service for 25 years. A resident of Palmdale for 39 years, he was an active member of Palmdale United Methodist Church and a 32nd degree, 67-year Mason. Since his lifelong passion was fishing, Russell and Betty enjoyed membership in the Palmdale Fin and Feather Club. Survivors include his beloved wife Betty; son, Russell Scott Bundy and wife, Leslie of Marietta, Georgia; daughter, Marcia Linscott and husband Brack of Atascadero, Calif., and daughter Denise Hooker, of Granada Hills, Calif.; granddaughters, Dr. Vanessa Bundy and husband Major Steve Kirchhoff of Hardy, Nebraska, Danielle Johnson and husband, Beau, of Sylmar, and Dion Durazo of San Diego, and great- granddaughters Olivia and Stella Johnson. He is survived by his sister, Marian Taylor of Shelton, Connecticut, her son Larry Taylor of St. Louis, Missouri, and her daughter Sandra Taylor of North Hartford, Connecticut. The memorial service will be held privately in September with the family at Rock Creek Lake, a favorite Bundy fishing site over 25 years in the High Sierras.
