BEDARD, Richard
BEDARD, Richard Age 81, a 40yr. resident of Rosamond, Calif., died Aug. 13, 2014 in Riverside, Calif. Richard "Dick" was born August 11, 1933 in the Massachusetts State Hospital in Tewksbury. His mother died 3 months after his birth, he spent many years in St. Josephs' French orphanage before being adopted by his grandparents, Rosa and Medard Bedard. He grew up in and around Fall River, Mass. He married Carolyn Anne McGee July 12, 1952. They were married 61yrs when Carolyn died at their home in Rosamond on July 9, 2013. Richard served honorably in the US Navy from 1950-1954. He moved his family to California where he was employed in the Aerospace industry. He worked for McDonnell Douglas, Rockwell, North American Aviation and Boeing. Aerospace Projects included Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Space Shuttle, B1-A & B, F-4, C-17, A-4. He was awarded The NASA Space Flight Awareness Award 'Silver Snoopy' for his contributions to Space Shuttle Thermal Tiles engineering and production. After retirement from Boeing he worked as a security guard for Site 1 Palmdale and enjoyed volunteering for Kern County Sheriff Department Citizen Service Unit for 19 years ending as Captain for the Rosamond substation. He is survived by sons, Richard of Poway, Michael of Rosamond, James of Tehachapi; daughters, Nancy Smith of Moreno Valley, and Heather Theriault of Rosamond. He and Carolyn had 17 grandchildren and 17 great- grandchildren. Interment will be at the Bakersfield National Cemetery. (PENDING)
