ROSENQUIST, James Richard
ROSENQUIST, James Richard Age 56, of Palmdale, Calif., went to be with his Savior on July 14, 2014. Jim graduated high school from Shickley, Neb. in 1976. He attended Chadron State College and earned his music degree in 1980. After teaching a few years in Neb., Jim moved to Palmdale where he spent 28 years teaching elementary and middle school music. Because of his musical talent and compassion for children, Jim received two 'Teacher of the Year' awards. He has been described as a 'modern Pied Piper leading students to a new understanding and appreciation of all things musical', and a 'Crowning Jewel' of the Palmdale School District. Some of his students have gone on to do their own compositions, and play professionally. As one student put it, 'This past year has been a challenge to him personally. He has taught us more than how to hold a bow, or count a beat or read a music note. More importantly he has taught usÉ'When life hands you the wrong sheet music, you keep on playing..' ' He will be remembered for his deep love of Christ and his love of his family, friends, music and travel. Jim is survived by his wife, Kelly Kracht Rosenquist; son, Joel Johnson of Lincoln, Neb.; parents, Richard and Marie Rosenquist of Geneva, Neb.; brother Russell and wife Janet of Omaha, Neb., and brother, Terry and wife Julie of Hastings, Neb. His Celebration of Life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2014, at Lancaster First Assembly of God, 44514 20th St. West, followed by a reception. See www.aspen for condolences and/or memorials
