BACCHUS, Dr. Azeez
BACCHUS, Dr. Azeez Passed away peacefully on July 18, 2014. Dr. Bacchus leaves behind his loving wife Yolanda; sons, Amyn, and Brighton; three grandchildren Lauren, Amanda, and Evan. Dr. Bacchus is preceded in death by a son, Taj. Azeez was the eldest son of Noor and Diddy Bacchus, born in Guyana on February 27, 1927. Azeez immigrated to Washington DC at the age of 19, and attended Howard and George Washington University, where he obtained his medical doctorate. As the first doctor of Indian descent in the Antelope Valley, Dr. Bacchus moved to Lancaster and established his practice as a general surgeon in 1960.Dr. Bacchus also served as Chief of Staff at Lancaster Community Hospital. Upon his retirement in 1997, Azeez enjoyed spending time with his family and enjoying the simpler things in life. Azeez was a kind, sensitive, and humble man, who was a skilled surgeon and gifted diagnostician. Family, friends, and former patients are invited to his Mass of Resurrection service at Sacred Heart Church on July 28, 2014 at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Paraclete High School. Arrangements entrusted to Halley Olsen Murphy Funeral and Cremations , Lancaster.
