SATHER, Chuck
SATHER, Chuck 1946 - 2014 On July 4, 2014 Charles Paul 'Chuck' Sather, 67, lost his fight with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) at the VA Hospital in La Jolla, California. Chuck was the oldest son of Charlie and Marian Sather, and was a long-time resident of Lancaster, California. He retired from Vons after more than 30 years in the retail grocery business. After the loss of his wife Rebecca in 2004, he became one of the first Community Services Officers hired by the City of Lancaster to work with the L.A. County Sheriff's Department and continued in that role until his illness forced him to retire at the end of 2013. He then moved to El Centro to live with his brother. He loved his job and co-workers and was very sad to have to leave. Chuck was a wounded Marine veteran of the Vietnam War and proudly wore his red Third Marine Division hat wherever he went. He was an extremely kind, patient, hard-working man, and an extraordinary father. His wonderful smile and sense of humor were often recognized around town, and he will be forever remembered and missed. Chuck is survived by his beloved daughter Danielle; son-in-law Brian; brothers, Marty and Eric; numerous extended relatives, and many friends. Memorial service will be held at 9:30 am, Saturday, July 26, 2014 at American Heroes Park, 642 West Jackman St., Lancaster, CA 93534. Chuck will be interred with his late wife Rebecca at Olivewood Memorial Park in Riverside.
