STICKEL, Richard William Dick
STICKEL, Richard William Age 86, passed away June 26, 2014 in Lancaster, California after a brief illness. He was born in Indiana and raised on the family farm. Richard married his wife Barbara in April 1950 in Elkhart, Indiana. He served his country in the Army during the Korean War and the couple moved west after his service. Mr. & Mrs. Stickel came to Mojave in 1960 where they purchased the local mortuary which became Stickel Mortuary. They served the local communities for over 40 years. Richard was known as a caring, kind-hearted man and a good friend, who was dedicated to funeral service and who treated everyone with care and respect as if they were family. Richard was the charter Exalted Ruler of Montebello Elks Lodge, a member of the Masonic Lodge, and a member of Al Malaikah Shrine. Richard loved the beach, was an amazing cook, an avid reader, a great story teller, and a private pilot for many years.Richard is survived by his wife Barbara; his daughter Debby (Robert); son John (Dawn); son David; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He loved his family above all and his wonderful laugh will never be forgotten. Private interment will be held at East Kern Cemetery in Mojave. Arrangements are being handled by Halley Olsen Murphy Funerals and Cremations , Lancaster.
