CREWS, Linda Lee
CREWS, Linda Lee July 8, 1949- June 11, 2014 Born in Appalachia, Virginia to Mary Lou and Arthur Leon Dixon, Linda moved around many times while her father was in the U.S. Navy. She spent her kindergarten and first grade years in Cuba and Panama, respectively. She then lived in five different states in the space of two years, mainly on the East Coast. In 1960, she moved to San Diego, California where she graduated from Madison High School in 1967, then moved once again with her family to Vallejo, California. Linda earned her cosmetology license and worked in retail sales while in Vallejo. It was there that she met and married William F. Crews on August 26, 1972. She moved to San Luis Obispo, California where William was attending California State Polytechnic University. While she worked, she attended college part time. In 1975 they moved to Lodi, California where she gave birth to her first child, a son. They then moved to Southern California where their daughter was born in 1980. Eventually, the family settled in Lancaster, California. Linda worked in real estate for over 10 years and then moved on to work in Palmdale School District. She then earned her AS degree from AV College and her Bachelor's degree from Cal State Bakersfield. Linda is survived by her husband, William Crews; son, Steven Crews; daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Michael Monaco, and two grandchildren. Memorial service will be held 11:30 am, Friday, June 27, 2014 at Desert Vineyard Christian Fellowship, 1011 E Avenue I, Lancaster CA. Interment will be held at 10 am, Monday, June 30, 2014, at Bakersfield National Cemetery, Arvin CA. Arrangements are being handled by Halley Olsen Murphy Funerals and Cremations, Lancaster.
