REYNOLDS, Barbara (Godde)
REYNOLDS, Barbara (Godde) March 4, 1926 - May 23, 2014 Barbara Reynolds was born in Lancaster, Calif. to Anthony and May Godde. She was a member of the pioneer Godde family who came to A.V. in 1890. She grew up on her parent's farm along with her 4 brothers and one sister. She attended Del Sur School and graduated from A.V.H.S. in 1944. At age 18, Barbara moved to Hollywood to live with her sister Marge and two of their best friends in a one-room apartment. She got a job with Capitol Records, one of the biggest recording companies at the time. In later years, her sister Marge talked about how they would come home from work, put curlers in their hair and then go roller-skating up and down Hollywood Blvd. Their favorite thing to do on weekends was going to USO dances with all the servicemen. In 1947 Barbara married Jack Reynolds, a marriage that lasted for 63 years until Jack died. In 1949 they built a home on Elm St. in Lancaster where they lived for the next 61 years. Jack and Barbara had a wonderful life. They had hundreds of friends throughout the years, most of them life-long. They were members of the Elks Club where they spent most weekend evenings dancing and enjoying all of their wonderful friends. After Jack and his partners sold their business, instead of retiring Jack took a part-time job working for Sierra Travel. He did this so he and Barbara could get discounts on travels and travel they did, all over the world. During her life Barbara was a housewife and mother. When her daughter was older she took part-time jobs with the AV Board of Realtors and AV Conservation District, but her favorite job was for the Lancaster School District, driving a school bus for the handicapped children. She also volunteered at AV Hospital for several years. Barbara loved to dance and belonged to a couple of dance groups. She also loved tennis, golf, playing bridge and in later years, poker with her monthly poker group. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Jack, as well as her brothers Forrest, Russell and Lawrence (Butch) Godde and her sister Marge Cox. She is survived by her brother, Jerry Godde and his wife, Barbara and sister-in-law, Gerri Godde; her daughter, Kimberly (Reynolds) McBride and her husband, JohnMcBride; granddaughter, Carrie Almanza and husband, Gabe; grandson, Clayton McBride and wife Celia; granddaughters, Kelsey and Jenna Almanza, and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Barbara was a life long member of Sacred Heart Church where a funeral mass will be held on Monday June 16, 2014 at 10am followed by graveside services at Good Shepherd Cemetery in Quartz Hill. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the A.V. Rural Museum, 2551 W. Ave. H, Suite 102, Lancaster, CA 93536
