MATTAROCCI, Thomas Tom was born in Pueblo, Colo., on July 11, 1930 to Antonio and Grace (Delessis) Mattarocci. On May 11, 2014 he went to be with the Lord in Palmdale Calif., at the age of 83. He is survived by his wife Helen and son, Bruce; sister Bernice and sister-in-law, Tawna; and nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and nephews. An avid sports lover he watched any sport on TV. Tom played varsity football and basketball at AV High School, graduating in 1950. He joined the US Navy during the Korean War serving aboard the USS Norton Sound. He returned to Palmdale and attended AVJC. He then went into the service station business. He started working for Northrop as an electrician, where he retired except for short time working for McDonnell Douglas. During retirement Tom volunteered at the Calvary Chapel AV bookstore. He led the youth group and taught Sunday school at Christ the King Episcopal Church and assisted with the Royal Ranger Group at the First Assembly of God in Lancaster. Memorial services will be held at 1 pm, Saturday, May 17, 2014 at (Presbyterian Church)1661 W. Lancaster Blvd. Pastor Rich Cowe of Calvary Chapel officiating. Arrangements by Mumaw Funeral Home.
