LAWRENCE, Margaret Lillian
LAWRENCE, Margaret 'Mickey' Lillian Age 92 years old, slipped peacefully into eternity on Thursday, May 1, 2014. Most recently a resident of Merced, Calif., Mickey spent most of her adult life in Lancaster, Calif. Mickey was born on September 28, 1921 in Montana to parents, William George and Laura Lillian Hunter. She was the baby of four children, Roberta Craig, Ermith Richmond, and Walter Hunter. Mickey came to California in her twenties with a sense of adventure. She discovered a home at the Hollywood Presbyterian Church. In 1945 she married Harry Gayle and together they had four children, Stephen, Trena, Lauren, and Harry Jr. The young family relocated to Lancaster, Calif. in 1954. Mickey became an active member of the First Baptist Church of Lancaster. She participated in choir, women's Bible study groups, and Sunday school. She had a special love for the church musical pageants and she played the piano for a variety of musical groups. In 1979 Mickey married Hugh Harding Lawrence and together they enjoyed their church activities. In addition, she enjoyed traveling, bike riding, crocheting, cooking, and entertaining. She loved to set a pretty table and cook delicious desserts. For many years Mickey taught piano lessons to hundreds of children. She enjoyed entertaining the parents with piano recitals, complete with homemade cookies and festivities. Mickey and Hugh lived together in Lancaster until his passing in 2006. One year later Mickey suffered some health issues and left Lancaster to live near her children in Colorado and then in Merced, Calif. She spent the last six years of her life in Merced, enjoying her special friends at the Hampshire Retirement Home and her family. Mickey is survived by her sister, Ermith Richmond of Ypsilanti, Mich.; her children, Stephen (Serena) of Downingtown, Pa., Lauren David (Andre) of Glendale, Calif., Trena (Raynee) of Pismo Beach, Calif., and Harry Jr. (Mitzie) of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; nine grandchildren, Angela Abrams Malone, Cherylyn Abrams, Aaron Abrams, Philip Abrams, Michael Gayle, Lori Marie Reed, Michelle Mednini, Jeffery Gayle, and Brandon Gayle. She was also blessed with three great-grandchildren, Analyse Malone, Zacchaeus Abrams, and Ayzia Abrams. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Walter and Roberta, and her husband Hugh Lawrence. A memorial service, to celebrate Mickey's life will be held on Friday, May 9, 2014 at Joshua Memorial Park and Mortuary, in Lancaster, CA. A visitation will be held from 4-8 pm, Thursday, May 8, 2014. The family extends special thanks to her caretakers at Terri's TLC Senior Care. They provided a fun and loving home for Mickey. In addition, they thank Dr. Adrian for his constant care and concern.
