SCHERER, Joseph Edward
SCHERER, Joseph Edward Born Sept. 9, 1921, passed away on Feb. 6, 2014. Joseph grew up in the coal mining area of central Pennsylvania and graduated from Olyphant High School in 1939. He entered the Pennsylvania National Guard and later the Army Air Corps serving in the United States Air Force until retiring in 1967. He then moved to Miami, Fla., and worked for the state of Florida for 13 years retiring in 1984. He relocated to the Antelope Valley in 1989, where he became very active in the Hap Arnold Masonic Lodge #791 located in Rosamond. He was a 32nd degree Mason and Hiram Award recipient. Survived by his wife, Elda of 70 years on Jan. 17, 2014. Also survived by his brother, Ronald M. Scherer; son, Enrique (Pamela); grandchildren, Erik Scherer, Melissa Martin, Stephanie McFarland, Mark Scherer, and 8 great-grandchilren. Viewing will be held at 1 pm, Feb. 13, 2014, at Mumaw Funeral Home, services will follow at 2 pm. In Lieu of Flowers, please send donations in his name to the Disabled American Veterans.
