HAKENSON, Roger Edward On December 10, 2013, Mr. Roger E. Hakenson passed away peacefully after a period of illness. He was being cared for and comforted at his home in Palmdale, Calif., by his wife and children at the time of his passing. He was 65. Roger was born in the city of Worcester, Mass. on August 14, 1948. He was one of eight children, and the youngest son of Russell and Ann Hakenson. Roger was raised on the southeast side on Worcester, and graduated from the former Commerce High School in 1966. Roger spent much of his early life in Worcester, and later moved to California where he made his home in several locations over the years with his family. While Roger made his living mainly in banking, business, and real estate, he lived his life for those he loved and cared of. Throughout his life, Roger was a caretaker, mentor, and friend to many people in need, and didnt hesitate to take into his home those who were lost and broken and proved them a path to a better life. Though he was a man with a hard work ethic, Roger had simple personal tastes and truly enjoyed spending time with his family, working on and around his home. He was always a man of great humor and sharp wit, and he entertained those around him even in his final hours. Roger is predeceased by his father Russell G. Hakenson, who passed away on December 25, 1991 at the age of 73. He is survived by his wife Anne Hakenson (Brown), his children Kurt Hakenson, Kristen Brown, Danielle Hakenson, and Nichole Alcantar, as well as 10 grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, Ann Hakenson, age 97, his brothers, Robert, Ronald, and Russell Hakenson, his sisters Annmarie Samara, Valerie Borowski, Dianne Cariglia, and Darlene Armstrong, along with many nieces and nephews.
