DUBA, Theresa Ann
DUBA, Theresa Ann (nee Tafarella) April 27, 1935 ~ Nov. 15, 2013 Theresa Ann Duba, also known as Terrie, passed away with family by her side at hospice in Las Vegas, Nev. Terrie was a graduate of North Hollywood High School and Los Angeles Valley College in Calif. In 1954, she married Dwight F. Duba in Las Vegas, Nev.,and together they had four children. Originally from The Bronx, N.Y., Terrie grew up in North Hollywood and made her home with Dwight and their children there for many years. Over the years they moved to Lancaster; Taichung, Taiwan; Reseda; Carpinteria; Richmond Hill, Ga.; and Henderson, Nev. She had a varied career as a homemaker, a telephone operator, and an employee of L.A. County. She finally worked as a Realtor for many years and garnered many honors and awards for top sales. In the 1960's Terrie was the 'cool, younger mom' who'd rush out to buy the latest 45 rpm recording of various soul groups and would teach all the kids in the neighborhood the latest dances such as 'The Twist,' 'The Swim,' or 'The Jerk.' As an avid gardener later in life, she and her beloved husband, Dwight created a back-yard paradise on an acre where they tended to various flowers, vines, fruit trees and vegetables and shared their bounty with family and friends. In 1997, when Dwight suffered a stroke, she dedicated her life to caring for him. Her love and care gave him another 14 years of life. When Terrie's health faltered, it was her love for her dogs that helped her rally a few more years. Terrie was very gregarious and loved by so many for her fun-loving spirit, willingness to help people and her generosity. Holidays were always a special time at the Duba's house where Terrie invited extended family members, friends and neighbors. She is survived by her four children, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held in Calif. at San Fernando Mission's Old Chapel Rey Monday, Dec. 9, 2013 10:30 a.m. (818) 361-0186. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Southern Nevada Pug Rescue: Please contact, Kathe, if you feel so inclined: (702) 335-3902.
