WHITSON, Steven Clair
WHITSON, Steven Clair Steven Clair Whitson of Lancaster, Calif, went to be with his Lord on October 30, 2013, at age 64. Born in Lancaster on January 8, 1949, he married his high school sweetheart in 1966 and graduated from Antelope Valley HS in 1967. He was a chef, handyman, alfalfa rancher, school custodian, teacher, windmill turbine operator, golf pro, security officer, and music minister. Whitson volunteered in music ministry at Grace Resource Center and retirement homes. He enjoyed playing guitar and singing, writing music, shooting muzzleloaders, golf, flying airplanes, riding his Harley, and spending time with his family. Whitson was preceded in death by his parents, Garland and Dorothy Whitson, and his brother, Sherman Whitson. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Janice Whitson; their daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Jim Hickman, and granddaughter, Miranda Hickman, of Lancaster; and their daughter and son-in-law, Saundra and Davide Cerutti, and granddaughters, Zoe and Azya Cerutti, of Rancho Santa Margarita; his brothers, Paul Whitson of Bullhead City, Arizona and Garrison Scott Whitson (Duane), of Rockmart, Georgia; and many extended family and friends. Memorial service is 3 pm, Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013 at Lancaster New Life Church of the Nazarene, 44339 Beech Ave, enter from Cedar Ave one block south of Ave J.
