SHIBATA, Henry Noboru
SHIBATA, Henry Noboru Born on November 19, 1924 in Indio, Calif., passed away September 6, 2013 in West Hills, Calif. He grew up in Indio and graduated from Coachella High School. He attended UCLA for Pre Med and after graduating, went to Temple University for Medical School. Henry completed his Internship and Residency at UCLA in Internal Medicine. He served during World War II in the Army with the 442nd Regimental Combat Team in France and Italy. He received commendations for bravery in combat and a Purple Heart. Henry moved to Palmdale in 1957 and opened a medical practice in Lancaster until his retirement in 1982. During his time in the Antelope Valley, he served for 10 years at Antelope Valley Hospital as Chief of Medicine. He also taught part time at UCLA Medical School for 25 years as well as practicing medicine in Lancaster as an Internal Medicine Specialist. Henry loved golf and was a long time member of the Antelope Valley Country Club. Henry and his wife Asa moved to Kauai in 1982 after retiring where they enjoyed traveling, golf and the company of many friends, including many visitors from California. Henry moved to an Assisted Living Facility in Calabasas to be near his daughter Janis and her family. Henry is survived by a daughter Janis Rodriguez (Garth) and Robert Shibata; grandchildren: James Shibata and Wesley Rodriguez and a brother Charles Shibata. He was preceded in death by his wife Asa (Asako). Memorial Services will be held at 10 am, Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Woodland Hills Christian Church, 5920 Shoup Avenue, Woodland Hills, Calif. The family request Aloha or Golf attire. Luncheon following the Memorial Service
