NELSON, Joe was born in Aldridge, Alabama on Dec. 11, 1928 to Jacob and Dessie Nelson at their home. Joe was educated in Abernant, Alabama, where he met and married Lorraine Boyd. Joe enlisted in the Navy on Aug. 1947 and was honorably discharged on Aug. 1954. In 1955 Joe and Lorraine moved with their oldest daughter Debbie Jo to Lancaster, Calif. where they lived for 52 years. Joe was a member of the operating engineers Local 12 for 35 years. Joe worked for Asphalt Construction most of those years, during that time he worked on the AV Freeway, Area 51 and paved the road for the Space Shuttle to be towed across Rosamond Dry Lake Bed, and also the Black Bird Park in Palmdale. Joe is survived by daughters, Carol(Mike)Montez and Debbie (Larry) Warren. Joe has 7 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
