SNEATHEN, Walter Bond
SNEATHEN, Walter Bond ('Wally') 2/4/1924 ~ 9/1/2013 Wally retired to the Antelope Valley with his wife, Adele, in 1988. He was part of the Greatest Generation, serving in World War II (Army Air Corps) in Luzon, New Guinea and Ikiajima. Born in LeGrange, Ill., he resided most of his life in the Los Angeles area. His retirement years became a canvas of many colors. He became involved with the 'Look-Alikes' contests held yearly at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood. He won awards for his strong resemblance to actor Mickey Rooney. He has been mistaken for Mr. Rooney since he was fifteen - no makeup, no plastic surgery needed. He took stained glass classes and became proficient in stained glass and manipulated glass design. A stained glass picture now hangs in the Veteran's Home in Lancaster, Calif., which he donated for all to view. One of Wally's favorite hobbies was model trains. Half of his garage was devoted to train tracks, hand-made bridges, railroad crossings and train stations. Many hours were spent 'conducting' his locomotives for the neighborhood children. Wally passed away at home, surrounded by his family. He entered paradise, taking the love of his family and friends with him. He will be greatly missed. Joshua Memorial Park , Lancaster
