PENDER, Robert J. Bob
PENDER, Robert J. 'Bob' 'A new Star in the Heavens' Born in Chicago, Illinois on April 22, 1927. Passed away in Sherman Oaks, Calif., on March 16, 2013, one month before his 86th birthday. He resided in North Hollywood Arts District for the past six years and enjoyed himself with his hobbies of playing cards and watching the horse races, Bob kept active until complications from an infection caused his heart to fail. Bob resided in Palmdale for 30 years and was a well known and respected Real Estate Broker working to develop the Antelope Valley. He graduated from Purdue University with a BA in Speech Therapy. Bob was inducted in the U.S. Army on D-Day serving in the European Theater. Bob was a favorite Coach, Umpire and Announcer for Palmdale Little League, Pony League and Colt League. Bob was also a Golden Glove Boxer, Writer, Poet, Actor and Agent. Bobs love of Theater and Opera was important throughout his life especially The Phantom of the Opera which he saw at least a dozen times. His love of music and crossword puzzles kept him in tune till his death. Bob is survived by his two sons Gray Robert Pender and Birch Wellington Pender, daughter-in-laws Martha Noble Pender, Melanie Wolff Pender, and Gay Naiditch his grandchildren Race Frederick Pender, Austin Mercedes Pender, and Russell McElhaney. Bob is preceded in death by his longtime beloved spouse Mary Mercedes who passed in 1999. A Memorial Service and Celebration of Bobs life will be held at 5 p.m., Saturday, April 20, 2013, at the Beverly Garland Holiday Inn at the The Beverly Garland Theater, in Universal City, 4222 Vineland Ave., Universal City, CA 91602.
