PATNODE, Denise Elaine
PATNODE, Denise Elaine 57, of Provo, Utah passed peacefully from this life with family at her side on February 24, 2013. Born June 26, 1955, in Burbank, Calif., to Arthur Eudena and Elaine May (Hancock) Patnode, she grew up in Lancaster, Calif. She received an AA Degree from Antelope Valley College and a BA from Brigham Young University with a major in History and a minor in Spanish. She served in the Columbia, Bogota' Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Denise made her home in Provo and worked 27 years for the Juab School District in Nephi, Utah. She taught History, Utah History and Spanish, touching the lives of thousands of Juab Junior High School students. A highlight of her teaching career was taking students to Washington, DC to represent the state of Utah at the National History Fair. Denise is survived by three brothers and three sisters; Carolyn (Harlan) Herle, Paul (Vicki) Patnode, and Donald (Karen) Patnode of Lancaster, Calif.; Maurine Kelley Harrold of Marysville, Calif.; Anita (Brock) Guernsey of Olathe, Kan.; Eugene Patnode of Long Beach, Calif.; and longtime friend, Kathy (John) Williams of Rosamond, Calif. She is also survived by 16 nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and nephews. Denise was preceded in death by her parents and two nephews. A viewing will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 5, 2013, and from 12 to 1 p.m., with services beginning at 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2013, all at Joshua Memorial Chapel, 808 East Lancaster Blvd, Lancaster. Interment to follow services at Joshua Memorial Park, Lancaster, California. Those desiring, may contribute to the Perpetual Education Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or to the Denise Patnode U.S. Constitution Scholarship, to be given to a deserving Social Studies student at Juab High School in Nephi, at :
